Indiana Strength in Food Production
Purdue President France Cordova and Dean of Agriculture Jay Akridge joined Dow officials for the dedication.

Dan Kittle, the Vice President of Research and Development for Dow Agro-Sciences said the opening comes at the best time in history to be in agriculture and agricultural research.

“One of the analogies I’ve heard,” Kittle said, “is that in the next forty years we have to produce as much food as civilized man has produced in all the rest of history. That’s a very significant challenge and we take that very seriously. But in order to do that, we believe that technology is one of the key contributing factors to do that. And we know that all the technology that’s required does not exist and is not applied today.”

President Cordova summed up what the facility means for Purdue. “With this opening Dow Agro-Sciences brings new jobs to our community and new opportunities to our students. The 30 scientists who work here in the research labs and the state of the art greenhouse will bring discoveries to life and deliver advances in biotechnology to our great state. And the Purdue student interns will work right alongside them making their own contributions and learning from the experience.”
